Bolton School Year 5 Junior boys have gained second place in the
national final of the British Schools' Biathlon Championship!
Harvey Haworth, Harrison Barker-Smith, and Guy Haworth made
up the Year 5 team, and each had to complete a 50m swim and a 500m
run in the fastest possible time at the event held at Crystal
Palace National Sport Centre. Harvey came 5th
individually, Harrison 7th and Guy 34th.
The British Schools' Biathlon Championships is an annual series
of competitions open to school pupils and their teachers. The boys
made it through to the national final, the culmination of the
series, by taking part in the regional qualifying events during the
Autumn Term. The competition comprises a 50m swim for years 5 - 7
with a 500m run, and for years 8 to 13 the distances are a 100m
swim and 1000m run.
Organiser of the British Schools' Biathlon Championship,
Pentathlon GB, believes the competition offers young people the
opportunity to participate in multi-sport in an enjoyable, safe and
competitive environment.
