The Boys' Junior Department of Bolton School has gone one stage
further than ever before in the English Chess Federation National
Schools' Championships, which is open to primary and secondary
schools.
Having finished runners up to Manchester Grammar School in their
regional zone, they qualified for the National Plate tournament.In
the first round they beat Greenwood Academy, a secondary school
from Irvine in Ayrshire and will now play Leeds Grammar School in
the quarter final.
The squad comprises Thomas Chia, James Titterington, Cameron
Lee, Ben Gibbons, Ham Dewhurst, Abhinva Kumar and Thomas Fines.
