"When I return to Bolton School to talk to pupils about entrepreneurship, my message is to 'go for it'. This is an attitude that I had instilled in me during my time at the school where my curiosity was fuelled and I became interested in ideas."

Tuesday, 26 February 2013

A team of Bolton School Junior Girls has made it through to the Final of the ECF National Schools' Girls' Team Championship.

The girls took part in the Northern Semi Final at Cheadle Hulme School, and came second in the match to book their place in the final. Each team consisted of three girls, but Hesketh House took four - Neha Bagewadi and Amerleen Hundle each played a board and Shivani Chohan and Jessica Chae played alternate games.

There were five games in total in the U11 category which the girls competed in. They finished in second place with 8.5 points, behind Aughton St Michael's who had a perfect score of 15. The top three teams qualified for the final which will be held in Uppington in July.

Event organisers said: “Parents, teachers and girls had a thoroughly enjoyable day. The quality of chess was excellent and the whole event was played in a competitive but friendly spirit.”
