Bolton School has appointed Miss Sarah Sergeant as the new Head
of the Girls' Junior School. She is joining this leading
independent school from the City of London School for Girls where
she has been since 2001. Initially appointed as a Junior Teacher
with the responsibility for Preparatory ICT, Design and Technology
and Art at the prestigious London School, she went on to achieve
excellent results in her role as Head of Preparatory Science, a
post she held from 2003. Miss Sergeant also had a significant
pastoral role as a House Coordinator for Years 3 to 13, which
involved the vertical integration of the whole school. She has also
held teaching positions at The Hall School, Wimbledon, London and
at Howell"s Preparatory School in Denbigh, North Wales.
During her interview, Miss Sergeant set out a clear vision for
the Bolton Girls' Junior School, where the pupils should not only
be literate, numerate and computer literate, but should also be
encouraged to grow socially, morally, spiritually and culturally in
order to achieve their full potential.
Miss Sergeant has a BSc (Hons) in Medical Sciences from the
University of Leeds and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education
from Homerton College, Cambridge. She is a Member of the

wide range of activities, including scuba diving, sailing, skiing,
climbing and travelling.
