Podium Position at AJIS Chess Tournament

A team of Junior Girls’ School chess players competed in the annual AJIS Chess Tournament, facing their rivals the Junior Boys alongside schools from across the North West in the competition. The girls played 5 matches, split into different age sections.

Three of the girls were awarded with medals. Paavana Sugumar from Year 3 received Gold for coming first in the 9B section, while Janani Velayutham in Year 5 achieved Silver for coming second in the 10A section, and Year 4 pupil Nyah Pomian came third in the 9A section and was awarded Bronze.

Then the strongest Junior Girls’ School chess players then added up their scores and as a team, achieving third place overall.

The girls all enjoyed their Saturday of Chess, and are already looking forward to the next competition.
