The Junior School of Bolton School Girls' Division has raised
several hundred pounds for charity with a non uniform day and an
afternoon of sweet treats! The day was called a 'Purple People
Day'; and combined various fundraising activities with a purple
themed non-uniform day. The girls, aged 7-11, set up around a dozen
stalls selling cakes, sweets and cuddly toys, and each decided on a
charity to donate their proceeds to.
The girls organised all aspects of running their stalls,
including advertising, collecting goods for sale and finally
sending the money to their charities. The money raised will benefit
a range of Charities including Wigan and Leigh Hospice, Bolton
Hospice and Cancer Research. The flagship charity for the event was
Jessie's Fund which aims to enhance the lives of sick children
through the therapeutic use of music, often in Children's Hospices.
The whole school entered into the spirit of the afternoon and the
girls on the stalls are to be congratulated for all their hard
work.
