This page provides progress reports on the building of the new Junior Girls' School.

  • The Foundation Stone laying ceremony was held in January with Lord Leverhulme's granddaughter, The Hon Mrs Jane Heber-Percy as the VIP guest.
  • The school building will be known as Hesketh House - from the middle name of William Hesketh Lever. The Hesketh name was a dual tribute to his mother, Elizabeth Hesketh and to the unrelated wholesale grocers Stones & Hesketh who had taken on William's father as a partner in 1841.
  • The Contractor, G & J Seddons, is reporting that the Junior Girls' School should be ready ahead of programme…around mid/end of June, providing us with sufficient time to occupy the building ready for the start of the 2010/11 academic year, subject to any adverse weather or other unforeseen issues.
  • Plastering and painting is being applied at the moment!
  • Shortly after the Easter holidays, the scaffolding will be dismantled and the external elevations will be revealed.
  • The project is still within budget at just below £5 Million.
  • Plans are well underway to organise how we will move in….looking at existing and new classroom equipment, specialist apparatus, ICT provision, catering, signage and so on,
