As your child's start date draws closer and closer, you may
experience a mixture of emotions.
We aim to not only support the child but yourselves as well.
At Bolton School Nursery we understand that this can be an
emotional time for parents therefore we offer a gradual admission.
This means that in the few weeks before your child is due
to start nursery we will invite you in for a first gradual
admission.
On your first gradual admission
On this day you will have the opportunity to meet all
appropriate staff who will be looking after your little treasure.
Giving you the opportunity to get to know each individual staff and
helping us to understand and learn about your needs and wants as a
parent.
You will then sit down with either your child's Key Worker or
Team Leader and go through your child's starter pack.
This pack consists of:
- All relevant contact details
- Policies and procedures (however not all will be in the pack
but all policies and procedures are available on request
at reception)
- Consent forms
- Payment procedures and all relevant documents
- Child entry records
- And much more!
We will also go through your child's typical day, any dietary
requirements and any further information that you wish for us
to know to enable us to support yourselves and
your child. All this is recorded and all staff read the
information prior to your child starting.
Once we have gone through all the paperwork it is then time for
you to have some fun and enjoy a little time in the room with your
child. This will help you see what we get up to in the
day.
Providing your child is content we may even ask if you would
like to leave them for a little while to see how they are
on their own with the other children. This helps the staff to
assess and observe how we can support them into gradually getting
used to nursery life. As you can imagine it is a big step for a
little one when coming to nursery and we like to make that
transition as smooth and enjoyable as we can for both yourself and
your child.
After your first gradual admission
Once you have had your first gradual admission. We will then
arrange a number of visits that will suit your family. These visits
will be on a gradual basis, where on the first visit they may
attend for 1/2 hour - 1hour and then gradually increase to half a
day or full day depending on your child's sessions. By doing this
it will not become so much of a shock when they eventually start
nursery and will make the transition from home life to nursery life
so much easier.
For any other information regarding this please do not hesitate
to contact us.
