Bolton School Nursery is 10 years old and it has been busy
celebrating a very successful decade.
Staff and children were joined at a birthday party by governors,
the Heads of the different schools that make up the Bolton School
Foundation, ex-cooks, finance staff and Senior School pupils who
had been amongst the first intake at the Nursery. There was a
rousing version of Happy Birthday sung by the children and the
adults celebrated with bucks fizz and birthday cake.
Most importantly, the best time was had by the children
themselves. There was lots of entertainment, including a
bouncy castle, face-painting, games such as hook-a-duck, balloons
and a wonderful performance by a magician. The children then
enjoyed their own mid-afternoon tea party.
Cutting the birthday cake, the Nursery School Manager, Mrs
Claire Thompson, said:
I've been here since the beginning and it has been a wonderful
10 years, thanks are due to the parents of the children who have
supported us over the years, as well as all staff, past and
present, Mrs Crawforth, Head of the Infants' School, for her
continued support, advice and guidance and to the support
departments of Bolton School. We must be doing something
right as we have a very healthy waiting list!
Over the last ten years 585 children have passed through the
nursery doors, many of whom have gone on to study at Bolton
School. There are currently 90 children on the register and
30 children due to start over the next 12 months.
In its ten year existence the Nursery has many claims to fame
including being the first nursery in the UK to install webcams, it
was the first small business to go through the revised IIP
Standards in the North-West and was one of the first nurseries in
Bolton to achieve Quality Counts standards recognition. The
Nursery has just completed its third review with glowing reports
and has an excellent Ofsted report.
We wish it all the best for the next 10 years!
