"Reluctantly, I wait for the holidays to come. I love coming to school. I am still doing cross country...the reason why I started was because Jessica Ennis inspired me."

Nursery Children Put On French Show

Friday, 03 July 2015

Children from the Butterfly Room at Bolton School’s Nursery and the Nursery Class for Three and Four Year Olds put on a show for their parents at the start of the summer. They were celebrating all of the French they had learned over the past year.

The children introduced themselves one by one in French at the start of the concert. They opened their performance with the familiar tunes ‘Frère Jacques’ and ‘Sur le Pont d'Avignon’, and the children sang and danced with great confidence.

The children sang a number of songs, each of which had taught them new vocabulary in French. One showed off their ability to count from one to ten, another was to do with different sizes, and another was a lullaby-style song about day and night. The ‘Rainbow Song’ had allowed them to learn the French words for colours! Each of the songs was accompanied by special dance moves which helped the children to remember the meanings of the foreign language words.

Finally, the children sang a ‘Goodbye Song’ to round off their performance. They obviously really enjoyed singing in French and giving their parents a taste of all they had learned in the past year.
