The Learning Centre is a purpose-built ICT study facility within
the Sixth Form Suite. Its creation was made possible by a generous
donation from the Parents' Association, and it was officially
opened by HRH The Duchess of Gloucester on 27 June 2000.
The vision of the Learning Centre is to create an environment
that provides students with the resources necessary for independent
study. Instead of being passive recipients of knowledge, they
should be capable of researching topics for themselves, with
tutorial guidance available as needed.
Conveniently located adjacent to the Common Room, the centre is
equipped with up-to-date networked computers, associated software,
scanners, printers, large-screen data projection equipment and
access to the Internet. Additional study areas within the centre
enable students to make full use of their private study
time. Ten years on from its opening, the centre now plays a
full part in Sixth Form education, including the UCAS application
procedure which is completed online.
