Army Leadership Afternoon

Monday, 03 March 2014

As part of the school's careers programme, all boys in Year 10 undertook an Army leadership afternoon during the SPACE session today. The session was run by the Army North West Outreach Team, who are responsible for liaising with youth groups and all sectors of education and industry.

The focus of the afternoon was on teamwork, leadership, problem solving, agility and fitness. A series of leadership tasks were set up around the school campus ranging from walking blindfolded through a minefield,  a logistics challenge to transport  equipment across an infested lake, transporting and erecting a canon, as well as using their dextrous skills on a Batak machine.

The boys thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and will have gained much from the experience whilst developing and honing their soft skills, which will be most important as they progress through school life and into the future.

Major Cook will be returning to school on the 14th March to give out certificates and prizes for the team who scored the most points during the afternoon, and also some individual awards for leadership potential.
