Bolton School boys put in an impressive performance in the
Regional Final of the English Schools Athletics Cup, winning the B
final by a huge 40 points.
The boys qualified for the North-West B final after finishing
third in the first round, against schools from Cheshire, Greater
Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cumbria.
The winning performance of 387 points was a 60 point improvement
on the first round result and would have gained 5th place in
the A final.
The competition took place at Stanley Park in Blackpool and was
for Year 7 and 8 pupils. Events included running, high jump, long
jump, triple jump, shot, discus and javelin.
Teacher, Mr Marc Tillotson, said: "It's difficult to pick out
stand out performers given the overall performance,
but Kristian McInery winning his 1500m race against
lads a year older in 5:11 was impressive. Eli Stubley falling
just short of 10 metres in the triple jump with 9.96m on his
first school performance was also fantastic, and Nat Roohan
running 63 seconds for 400m was another stand out."
