Boys Perform Alongside Celebrity Guitarist Ivan Bores

Wednesday, 11 February 2015

The Boys’ Division Classical Guitar Quartet performed alongside Ivan Bores at a recent recital held in the Arts Centre.

Ivan is a contemporary guitarist and composer from the Czech Republic with celebrity status in the world of music. The event was organised by the Manchester Guitar Circle as part of their ‘International Guitar in Bolton’ series.

The Classical Guitar Quartet was given a guest spot in the programme and performed four pieces under the direction of Mr Jon Gjylaci.

One of the pieces the boys performed was ‘Tango’ by Mark Houghton. The music was originally composed for a Classical Guitar Workshop held at Bolton School in 2012, which was led by internationally renowned classical guitarist Craig Ogden. Mark was in the audience for the guitar recital, and at the end he surprised the Boys’ Division performers by presenting them with a new composition dedicated to the Quartet!
