"The classic Bolton School combination is hard work, good friends, challenging and thought-provoking teaching, a healthy desire to puncture the self-important and the sense that you can work hard to achieve things in life. "

Boys' Support for Macmillan Cancer Support

Friday, 13 December 2013

Rose Tipton, Macmillan Cancer Support Fundraising Manager for Greater Manchester, visited the School to collect a cheque for £1,000 from the Boys' Division; monies raised during a whole school sponsored walk during the summer.

A delighted Rose said: “Macmillan financial grants are just one way that we support people affected by cancer. We are extremely grateful for the support from the Boys’ Division of Bolton School. This fantastic amount raised by the school will help at least four local families.”

In 2012 Macmillan gave £43,457 to 123 cancer patients in Bolton; the average grant is around £300 and can be for anything that the patient needs, including clothes, bedding, trips to the hospital, car tax or the paying of heating bills to name but a few.

The School sponsored walk raised funds for many charities including The British Heart Foundation and Derian House.
