"The classic Bolton School combination is hard work, good friends, challenging and thought-provoking teaching, a healthy desire to puncture the self-important and the sense that you can work hard to achieve things in life. "

Classical Guitar Quartet Perform at Manchester Cathedral

Wednesday, 11 December 2013

The Boys’ Division Classical Guitar Quartet took part in the NSPCC’s ‘Carols by Candlelight’ held at Manchester Cathedral.

The guitarists, Tom Fines, Arran Ireland, Chris Pantelides and Giri Nandakumar have been together for just over twelve months and this was their third public performance. The quartet was directed by Mr Gjylaci and played two pieces: the Spanish flamenco-style Arena Y Sol by Ian Gammie, and a more seasonal offering, A Medley of Christmas Themes arranged by Mark Houghton.

The concert also featured the Alderley Edge School Choir, St Matthews RC High School Concert Band, and Real Radio XS DJ Mike Sweeney reading Twas the Night Before Christmas. This is the fourth time that Bolton School has been invited to take part in a prestigious concert at this magnificent venue which always raises a significant amount of money for charity.
