Explosive Lecture for Local Schools

Bolton School pupils were joined by pupils from other local schools as the School hosted a Royal Society of Chemistry Christmas Lecture entitled 'Chops n All'.

Dr Steven Rossington from the University of Salford led an investigatory look at the chemical elements that constitute human life through a series of fun and explosive chemical demonstrations. The presentation was suitable to all age groups with an interest in science and pupils from varying year groups from schools including Oakhill, Sharples School and Derby High attended.

Dr Rossington is a lecturer in biochemistry and chemistry at The University of Salford. He has previously worked at Manchester and Liverpool Universities and demonstrates to over 50 schools per year. The event was supported by BASF chemicals, The Biochemical Society and The Royal Society of Chemistry who are all sponsors of Dr Rossington's demonstrations. The lectures are organised by the Manchester and District local Section of the Royal Society of Chemistry and supported by the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Salford.
