German Olympiad Boys Receive Prizes at Oxford Awards Ceremony

Wednesday, 18 June 2014

Four Year 11 boys studying German  have been nominated as runners-up in the 2014 German Olympiad competition, organised by the Oxford German Network. The theme for this year’s contest was 1914. Anchit Chandran, Giri Nandakumar, Chris Boulos and Jordan Reed entered the Group Film category; their script was very well-researched and put together, producing a very high quality of German on a difficult topic.

They travelled down to Oxford for the Prizegiving event, which was held in the Divinity School of The University of Oxford’s Bodleian Library. The four boys were presented with their prizes by the great-nephew of Franz Kafka, Michael Steiner.

Beforehand, they were given a ‘behind-the-scenes’ tour at both Balliol and Exeter Colleges, thanks to current Undergraduate Old Boys Peter Swift and Dean Khan.
