"There is no doubt this is a very special school with fantastic facilities and fantastic teachers who make all the difference. It's just a shame that every school in the country cannot be like Bolton School."

Old Boy Ed Scott in GB Water Polo Qualifiers

Friday, 19 April 2013

Former Bolton School pupil and Water Polo International, Ed Scott, has been competing in the first round of the LEN European Championships 2014 Qualifiers in Georgia for the British Gas GBR Men’s Water Polo team.

The first game of the tournament was against the host nation which unfortunately the GB team lost 12-3. The next game was against a Polish side who they used to train and play with, and the GB team won the game with a decisive 11-3 score line. Next up was a young Czech Republic team and again team GB triumphed with a 17-4 win.

The final game was against Slovakia – a must win game in order to finish second in the group and therefore have a more favourable draw for the second group qualifying stage in July. Both teams had opportunities to win the match but eventually ended with a 5-5 draw, leaving the GB squad in third place in the group.

At London 2012 Ed was the first choice goalkeeper for the thirteen strong GB squad.

Here Ed gives an insight into the team’s performances in Georgia.
