"Recently I won the Mensa Child Genius Competition and I believe that it was possible because of the academic skills and the skills to perform in front of an audience and to keep calm under pressure that I acquired at Hesketh House."

Old Boys Selected for GB U19 Water Polo Squad

Tuesday, 12 April 2016

Old Boy Aaron Winstanley has been chosen to captain the British squad in Turkey for the Men’s European U19 Water Polo Championships 2016 qualification tournament. He is joined by fellow Old Boy Chris Ray; both alumni left the Boys’ Division last summer after completing their A Levels. Ben Riding, who attended Bolton School until Year 8, has also made it onto the team. All three now play for the City of Manchester.

Bolton School and City of Manchester water polo coach Mr Andy McGinty will act as the Assistant Coach for the British team at the tournament.

When the British team arrives in Istanbul in early May, they will face squads from Montenegro, Israel and Belgium as well as the hosts Turkey. The top two teams in the group will qualify for the finals, which are to be held in Alphen aan den Rijn, the Netherlands, in September. Prior to flying to Turkey, the team will head to Malta for a five-night training camp, and while there will face Malta's U19 team, who are also preparing for their European qualifiers.
