Primaries Do Battle to be Local Quiz Champions

Monday, 23 May 2016

Teams of six Year 5 girls and boys from eleven local primary schools battled it out at this year's Big Quiz hosted by Bolton School.

Over the course of ten challenging rounds, pupils were tested on their history, geography, science, maths, languages, books and literature and observational skills. With only two rounds to go, only half a point separated the top two teams but after a tough history round, St Thomas of Canterbury ran out eventual winners.

Each winning contestant received a WHSmith gift voucher and the team took away a National Geographic book for their school.  All children who took part also received a certificate of participation from the Headmistress of Bolton School Girls' Divsion, Miss Sue Hincks.

Event organiser, Miss Samantha Tomlinson, said: "I am always amazed at how clever these Year 5 pupils are across a wide range of subjects. They and their teachers have clearly worked hard and the evening is a celebration of the very best brains in Bolton!"
