Pupils and Staff Borrow a Book for Christmas

Monday, 14 December 2015

GCSE and A level students as well as teaching staff have taken part in Bolton School Library’s Borrow a Book for Christmas campaign. Library staff canvassed students’ views on favourite genres and books and then chose a tome which they believed was suitable for them based upon their interests. The chosen book was then wrapped and left under the Library Christmas tree ready for the student or teacher to collect.

Librarian Mrs Caller said: “We are still collating all the statistics but close to 100 pupils and a dozen teachers have taken part and it looks like the popular genres are thrillers, fantasy and horror with, no surprise, J K Rowling being very popular!  The insights we gain will help us in our buying of books for the future. In choosing a book to lend to students for Christmas, we have tried to give them something that will stretch them as well as entertain them. After Christmas, we will have a display which charts our findings as well as records some of the book reviews written by the pupils.”
