"One mum in a family with three generations of Boltonian men said, 'You can't better this school - it's belting', and we are inclined to agree. "

School Teaches Primaries to Samba

Tuesday, 23 April 2013

Year 3 pupils from local primary schools, Tonge Moor Primary and St Peter and St Paul’s RCP School, were treated to an excellent ‘Samba Presentation’ at Bolton School.

The presentation featured the Boys’ Division Senior Percussion Ensemble, directed by Ian Forgrieve. The Percussion Ensemble performed superbly and there were also a number of tuned percussion solos. One of the highlights was the audience participation item where all the visiting children were given a percussion instrument to play and after some tuition, they joined the Percussion Ensemble in performing a samba piece. They thoroughly enjoyed this! The whole event complimented the work that the primary school teachers have been doing with the children – ‘How to express yourself through music’ and ‘Samba music in Brazil’.

The primary pupils were collected from their schools by Bolton School coaches and taken back to their schools at the end of the performance.
