School to Host Suzannah Lipscomb Lecture

Thursday, 22 September 2016

Historian, author and broadcaster Suzannah Lipscomb is visiting Bolton School on Thursday 13 October to give a free lecture titled ‘Leadership Lessons from the Tudors’, beginning at 7.00pm.

Members of the public are invited to join Bolton School pupils and staff to learn more about this fascinating phase of British history.

The lecture promises to be particularly relevant for those studying History at GCSE and A Level but should also appeal to anyone with an interest in History or the Tudors.

Dr Lipscomb is an expert on the Tudor period. She is Senior Lecturer in Early Modern History and Fellow of the New College of the Humanities, London, and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. Her most recent publication is The King is Dead: The Last Will and Testament of Henry VIII, and she has also written A Visitor’s Companion to Tudor England and 1536: The Year that Changed Henry VIII.

On television, she has presented a variety of historical programmes, including BBC4’s Hidden Killers documentaries – most recently The Post-War Home, but also The Victorian Home, The Edwardian Home, and The Tudor Home. She also recently co-presented Henry VIII and His Six Wives with Dan Jones for Channel 5, and presented Witch Hunt: A Century of Murder and Henry and Anne: The Lovers Who Changed History for the same channel.

This free event is open to everyone and will take place in the Girls’ Division Great Hall on Thursday 13 October, beginning at 7.00pm. Refreshments will be available beforehand from 6.30pm. Parking will be available in the Girls’ Division Quad, which will be clearly signposted on the night.
