Silver for Sam in Bolton Gym Competition

Wednesday, 02 May 2012

A team of Year 7 boys entered the Bolton School's Gymnastics Competition for the first time and Sam Bowden came away with a silver medal!

Sam, along with fellow pupils Cian McMahon, and Sammy Gatenby were the only boys in the competition and competed in the Advanced Category against around 55 girls.

Mr Matt Johnson, Head of PE in the Boys' Division, said: "It was a great experience for the lads to compete in such a competition. The boys all performed an unsupported handspring vault over a one metre high box, in conjunction with a floor sequence, comprising of 6 core skills. All three lads performed extremely well, but Sam Bowden, deservedly won the silver medal with an outstanding sequence consisting of controlled balances and complex tumbling movements."
