We are looking for bright, well-motivated students who will make
the most of all that an education at Bolton School has to
offer.
To gain a place in Year 7 a candidate must first reach the
appropriate standard in the Entrance Examination which will be held
on the morning of:
Tuesday 19 January 2010.
An application form can be downloaded from the bottom of this
page.
There will be four components to the examination:
- an English Composition, set by the School (examples of past
questions are available below and will be available at Open
Day)
A set of three tests from NFER Nelson comprising:
- a verbal reasoning test
- a non-verbal reasoning test
- a mathematical test
Each of these tests is designed to test "innate" ability.
Practice papers are available from any good bookshop (look for NFER
Nelson 11+ practice papers).
As an indication of the required standard, we would normally
expect your daughter's teacher to be predicting Level 5 in the Key
Stage 2 SATs test.
Approximately 180 candidates who are successful in the Entrance
Examination will be invited for interviews. We also ask for a
report from the candidate's Headteacher at this stage. Offers of
places are made in early March.
Depending on the migration of pupils, places are sometimes
available in other year groups. For further information and an
application form for entry into the Senior School please contact
the Headmistress's Secretary, Mrs Lynden Graham on 01204 840201 ext
210 or at seniorgirls@boltonschool.org.
