Patterdale Hall is our own outdoor pursuits centre in the Lake
District. Located in idyllic surroundings at the southern end of
Lake Ullswater, the estate contains a working hill farm and a
hundred acres of garden and private woodland. It is the ideal
location for field studies, Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions,
and multi-activity programmes for Junior and Senior School pupils.
Here, pupils can enjoy orienteering, sailing, canoeing, kayaking,
archery, gorge walking, a ropes adventure course, rock climbing and
abseiling.
The centre provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It sleeps
up to sixty guests in dormitory style bedrooms and groups also have
access to a games room, a classroom, television and DVDs. Fully
qualified instructors help the pupils to enjoy themselves at
Patterdale and to get the most out of their time there. They
supervise all the activities, offering them appropriate challenges
and giving them a real sense of adventure. The Advanced Activities
Licensing Authority maintains checks on all the instructors to
ensure that they are up to date with the latest requirements.
Apart from providing an ideal location for physical activities,
the Hall is also a popular destination for short Study Courses. For
instance, our A Level German students have often spent a weekend
there, practising their language skills in delightful
surroundings.
