And Then There Were Two....

Friday, 30 November 2012

The two finalists for next week’s Bolton School Girls’ Division MasterChef Live Cook Off Grand Final have been announced as Melissa Cordingly and Charlotte Winrow, after a keenly contested semi-final where contestants were charged with preparing a wedding dessert. It was a particularly tough decision for this week’s two judges, Mrs Waters and Miss Wadey but, ultimately, Charlotte’s mandarin and lemon cheesecake and Melissa’s chocolate tart with bride and groom strawberries, were judged the winners.

The competition for Year 9 girls, which has been running since the start of term, has seen 17 contestants whittled down to the two finalists. Each round has tested girls’ culinary skills as they have been asked to prepare everything from stuffed peppers or mushrooms to vegetarian main meals to cupcakes, all the time being judged on their creativity, organisational ability, taste and attention to hygiene.

Miss Chloe Mower, organiser of the competition, said: “It has been a terrific contest so far with the girls achieving some very high standards. I can promise that next week the task set for the girls will be a showstopper!”
