Delivering high quality Physical Education, School Sport and recreational activities for Bolton using the Community of Bolton.

The inaugural meeting of the new Bolton Sports Alliance met at Bolton School on 1st July 2015 and was opened by a welcoming address by Philip Britton MBE, Headmaster of Bolton School Boys’ Division.

The Bolton Sports Alliance is a new partnership model consisting of Bolton Wanderers Community Trust, Bolton Lads and Girls Club, Bolton School and The Lancashire Outdoor Activities Initiative and aims to provide high quality sport and physical education opportunities for the community of Bolton using recognised local deliverers. This Alliance of Charitable Trusts draws upon the quality provision of key partners from the local sports clubs and organisations that all aim to give the young people of Bolton the highest level of experience.

World, Commonwealth and European Champion Beth Tweddle MBE, gave a short presentation to the meeting which was attended by head teachers and representatives from interested organisations  in support of the Alliance and also to highlight the broader opportunities available via the Alliances’ associate providers

Beth said “In my experience young people deserve the best teaching and coaching and in turn teachers and coaches must be able to access the best support and professional development.”

Although Neil Lennon, Manager of Bolton Wanderers, could not be present he sent a video message to the group in which he emphasised that this Alliance could grow and move forward to be a key agency in delivering high quality services to the community of Bolton.

The launch was brought to an end with a summary from Phil Mason, Head of Bolton Wanderers Community Trust and Club Chaplain. Phil said, “This Alliance provides great opportunities for our young people in Bolton working with trusted partners who know the borough well and can provide the highest quality in sport provision.”

The Alliance can offer a menu of support to schools in a wide variety of sports, physical activities and outdoor education as well as a comprehensive range of coach and teacher education courses.
