Dragonfly Day Inspires Girls

Friday, 03 July 2015

A group of six Year 10 pupils recently travelled to the University of Salford to take part in ‘Dragonfly’, a day of activities for girls interested in science and engineering. The Dragonfly programme is designed to give girls a taste of available courses, industries and careers. They are nationally organised by the Headstart organisation of the Royal Engineering Academy, and the event is sponsored by EE.

Ruby Cummings, Reem Harandou, Anu Jain, Neha Khimani, Aminah Mohammed and Anika Patel attended the Dragonfly day, accompanied by Miss Marrs. These girls have displayed a strong interest in the programme and were selected to attend.

The day began with an introductory talk about science and engineering, and then the girls had the chance to engage in hands-on challenges and fun science and engineering exercises. These included building a ‘skyscraper’ and creating model aeroplanes.
