"Reluctantly, I wait for the holidays to come. I love coming to school. I am still doing cross country...the reason why I started was because Jessica Ennis inspired me."

Girls Participate in Greater Manchester Chemquiz

Monday, 29 June 2015

A team of four girls participated in this year’s Chemquiz, an annual opportunity for local schools to test their chemical and scientific abilities in an enjoyable day of activities. Isabelle Grime from Year 10, Emily Manock from Year 9, and Sharon Daniel and Amara Vijaydurai from Year 8 made up the Girls’ Division team. They were accompanied to the event by chemistry teacher Miss Pealing.

This year, the competition was hosted by The Manchester Metropolitan University in their newly refurbished, state of the art laboratories, and BASF were the sponsors once again.

The girls took part in three rounds of activities throughout the day. They began with a multimedia section, followed by a practical laboratory exercise. This was followed by a quiz, which the girls particularly enjoyed. They worked together really well as a team throughout the different rounds and came 15th overall in the competition.
