Year 9 water polo player Thea Simpson has received a national call-up for her skills in the sport. She was talent-spotted at a recent regional training session, and was recommended to take part in trials.
On the 10th and 11th of January, Thea competed against other U15 girls for a spot in the national squad, and found out on the following Monday that she had been accepted!
This success follows on from Thea’s inclusion in a National Academy Water Polo Camp over the summer holidays. Her first training session as a member of the UK U15 squad will take place this weekend. During the weekend camp, she will join members of the other junior squads and be sorted into a mixed team with older players up to the age of 17 for a series of challenging practice matches.
Inclusion in the national U15 squad is a fantastic achievement, and a great opportunity for Thea to hone her skills in her chosen sport.
Thea also trains with the City of Manchester water polo team, as well as playing with the Boys’ Division U15 team.
