Parents’ Associations Raise £5,000 for Bursary Fund

Monday, 12 October 2015

Five Parents’ Associations (PAs) at Bolton School – the Infants’, Junior Girls’, Junior Boys’, Senior Girls’ and Senior Boys’ PAs – have raised £5,000 for the School’s bursary fund. The money was raised at a spectacular Family Festival Day, held earlier in the Summer as part of the School’s 100 and 500 year celebrations.  Amongst a wide range of stalls, games and activities, one of the most eye-catching offerings of the day was watching over 50 people abseil down the school’s clock tower! There was a wide range of activities for children of all ages – everything from a surf simulator to a fire engine to human table football to go kart rides to bouncy castles and slides to crazy golf to a human buzz wire!  Lots of fantastic raffle and auction prizes and a popular game of guess how many balloons are in the Headmaster’s car, all helped raise further funds on the day.

Head of Development, Mrs Julia Bates, thanking the PAs, said: “This is a fantastic sum and we are incredibly grateful for this donation to the Bursary Fund. It is enough to fund a half-bursary and to possibly alter the course of a young person’s life.”

The School is currently celebrating 100 years of the Bolton School Foundation and 500 years of education in Bolton.
