"Reluctantly, I wait for the holidays to come. I love coming to school. I am still doing cross country...the reason why I started was because Jessica Ennis inspired me."

Physics Teacher Delighted with her Latest Publication

Thursday, 23 June 2016

Bolton School Girls’ Division Physics teacher and resident author Mrs Sue Holt is delighted to see Physics for You, the GCSE textbook that she has helped update to meet the new specifications, published in its fifth iteration.  “The book is the brain-child of Keith Johnson who believes passionately that Physics should be made as accessible as possible for all pupils and that it should be presented as a fun subject. I was first recruited to work with him 15 years ago on the A-level book and soon became convinced that his principles are sound. I was delighted to be asked to support him with this edition of his GCSE book.”

Earlier in the academic year, Mrs Holt was surprised and delighted to find out that the School’s Physics Department had decided to use her recently published ‘Advanced Physics For You, 2nd edition’ as the Girls’ Division A-Level Physics textbook.  Head of Physics Mr Ball chose the textbook because of its high quality, and for the fact that it is an excellent match for the new OCR A specification that the Girls’ Division is following.  The whole department and the Year 12 students kept the secret until the end of the second week of term, when they unveiled the new textbooks to Mrs Holt in the Physics lab. The Year 12 Physics students attended the launch of the new textbook, and prompted a special book-signing by the author!
