Zoe Sets Sights on North-West Climbing Double

Friday, 04 March 2016

Zoe Grainger, a Year 9 pupil in Bolton School Girls’ Division has set her sights on an indoor climbing double!

On Friday of last week, 4 March, she convincingly won the final round of the U16 Manchester Climbing Centre’s Indoor Winter Bouldering League sponsored by La Sportiva. The event ran over four evenings in October, December, January and March. Zoe went into the final round in second place but with double points available, her efforts on the night saw her win through as champion. She received a medal and a £125 winning prize, courtesy of the sponsors, from professional climber Neil Gresham.

She now has her sights set firmly on winning the sixth and final round of the Liverpool Hangar U16 competition, where she currently leads the field.  Her younger sister, Isabella, who is in Year 6 of Bolton School Junior Girls’ School, remains fourth in the same competition.

We wish both girls the best of luck as they compete against many older competitors!
