Tuesday 24 November 2009, 6.45pm - 9.00pm
The evening provides an opportunity for both current and
prospective pupils, and their parents, to discuss AS and Advanced
Level options and to learn more about Sixth Form life at Bolton
School.
Each year the vast majority of Year 11 pupils progress into the
Sixth Form. The Boys' Division also welcomes students into the
Sixth Form from across the region. Financial support is available
to students through our Open Door Bursary Scheme. Find out more
about financing and
fees.
In order to register for the Sixth Form Open Evening or if you
would like to arrange a private tour of the School on another day,
please contact the Headmaster's PA, Mrs Mari Leather on 01204
840201. Brochures and application forms can also be requested from
Mrs Leather.
Entry Criteria
The academic criteria for entry to A level courses are normally
A grade GCSE passes in the subjects to be followed in Years 12 and
13, or the nearest equivalent in the case of subjects not being
taken at GCSE.
Applicants should expect to achieve a minimum of 5 A*-C passes
at GCSE, including Mathematics and English. However, for external
candidates, places are normally offered after interview and on
receiving a good reference from the previous school.
Requirements may be relaxed where a student has a good all-round
track record of sustained effort, conduct, attitude, discipline,
attendance and contribution to school life. We are really looking
for students who are self motivated, who believe they will
achieve.
