"Recently I won the Mensa Child Genius Competition and I believe that it was possible because of the academic skills and the skills to perform in front of an audience and to keep calm under pressure that I acquired at Hesketh House."

Matthew Boyers Joins Lancashire U18s

Friday, 20 June 2014

Year 12 pupil Matthew Boyers has earned a place in the Lancashire U18 Rugby Team!

Matthew attended trials in February this year, and in March was offered a place on the U17 team. He had played two games for his county as part of the U17 team, and is now transitioning up into the U18 squad. He said, “It was great when I found out. It really showed that all my hard work has paid off and was worth it.”

He has also won a place in the Warrington Wolves U19 Academy, which comes with a gruelling training scheme: three nights a week, he trains for four hours after school, plus four hours on a Saturday. However, it could lead to a place on the Warrington Wolves U19 Team.

Matthew has been playing since he was six years old, and hopes to be able to play rugby professionally in the future.
