"When I return to Bolton School to talk to pupils about entrepreneurship, my message is to 'go for it'. This is an attitude that I had instilled in me during my time at the school where my curiosity was fuelled and I became interested in ideas."

School Water Polo Players Join GB Team in Croatia

Wednesday, 03 September 2014

Four Bolton School boys travelled out to Croatia with the U18s GB Water Polo squad at the end of the summer holidays. The Bolton School boys on the team were Bertie Moores, Fergus Plant, Thomas Prayle and Chris Ray. Aaron Winstanley had also planned to join them, but unfortunately could not make it on this occasion.

The squad had been disbanded, but recently re-formed and is now preparing for the 2016 U20s European Championships. With two years to train together and grow stronger as a team, the squad is sure to be a solid contender when the competition arrives.

The boys were in Croatia with the Great Britain squad from Wednesday 27th to Sunday 31st of August, arriving back just in time for the start of term. The squad was trained by Dr Mike Yates, the Boys’ Division Head of Chemistry and also the Team Manager, with assistance from two of the School’s water polo teachers: Mr Andy McGinty and Mr Addison Brown.

As well as training in superb Water Polo facilities, they also enjoyed a number of informal games against Hungarian and Croatian club teams.
