"Recently I won the Mensa Child Genius Competition and I believe that it was possible because of the academic skills and the skills to perform in front of an audience and to keep calm under pressure that I acquired at Hesketh House."

Sixth Form Celebrates Ten Oxbridge Offers

Friday, 23 January 2015

Pupils in Bolton School’s Sixth Form have been celebrating after receiving offers from the universities of Cambridge and Oxford. As two of the best universities in the country, these institutions call for outstanding UCAS application forms and even additional examinations for some subjects, and operate a stringent interview process. However, the School provides additional support to all Oxbridge applicants, and this year ten Sixth Form pupils have been successful.

In the Boys’ Division, six students have received offers, all from the University of Cambridge: Sohail Daniel and Shyam Dhokia to study medicine at Caius College and St John’s College respectively; School Captain Paul Greenhalgh to read Geography at Jesus College; Alex Johnson to study Engineering at Peterhouse College; Alex Lawrence to study Chemical Engineering at Emmanuel College; and Henry Mitson to read Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic at Caius College.

Four girls have been offered Oxbridge places: Than Dar to study Medicine at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge; Natasha Hall and Sarah Richards to read Classics at Cambridge, in Downing College and Corpus Christi College respectively; and Katie Hurt to study Physics at Corpus Christi College, Oxford.

This is a fantastic achievement for all of the students. We wish them the best of luck in achieving the grades needed to accept their places.
