Bolton School is celebrating having secured further bursary
funding from The Leverhulme Trust. The money will be used to help
pay the full tuition fees of four Sixth Form students from
September 2009 and then eight students in subsequent years. The
money is in addition to that already given by the trust to help
fund the education of 11-16 year olds at the School.
Mr Simon Marsden, Clerk and Treasurer at the School said: "We
are absolutely delighted to receive this extra funding from The
Leverhulme Trust. I believe there is no better investment than in
the education of a young person and this money will help make a
difference to someone's life. Given the current economic climate,
the money is especially welcome and allows us to further our aim of
offering a Bolton School education to any worthy boy or girl,
irrespective of parental income."
The School has strong and historic links with The Leverhulme
Trust. The trust was founded by the First Viscount Leverhulme, who
also re-endowed Bolton School in 1913. His funding allowed
for the amalgamation of Bolton Grammar School for Boys with the
Bolton High School for Girls to create Bolton School.
