Eighteen students from Bolton School's Sixth Form are
celebrating after receiving offers to study at Oxford and Cambridge
universities from Autumn 2010. Nine students from the Boys'
Division and nine students from the Girls' Division have been
offered places at the prestigious institutions.
In the Boys' Division three of the offers are unconditional and
made to boys who sat their A Levels last year and are currently on
gap years. In the Girls' Division one of the offers is
unconditional - a place to study Architecture for Victoria Gramm,
who gained 4 As at A Level last year. Victoria attended Bolton
School for most of the senior years after she came to Britain from
Russia as a young teenager and is currently studying an Art
Foundation course in her gap year.
I am thrilled for the girls and their teachers. Such offers are
a strong endorsement of the education that is on offer at Bolton
School. I was particularly pleased to see that offers were made to
study Mathematics at Oxford to two Chinese students, who came over
to Britain for their A Level studies and are living locally.

These offers are recognition of the hard work undertaken by both
the students and their teachers, and I am delighted for them
all. I am equally pleased for the many other students who
have received offers from the UK's leading universities. In order
to gain entry to the very best universities applicants must have
CVs which demonstrate more than their academic potential. At
Bolton School we work hard to ensure that students are exposed to a
vast array of extra-curricular activities and that they leave us as
self-confident young people ready to make a difference in the
world.
