"When I return to Bolton School to talk to pupils about entrepreneurship, my message is to 'go for it'. This is an attitude that I had instilled in me during my time at the school where my curiosity was fuelled and I became interested in ideas."

Old Girl Joins Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra

Friday, 19 June 2015

Natasha Lomas has successfully auditioned for a place with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. She left the Girls’ Division last summer to study at the Royal Northern College of Music with a scholarship in clarinet performance.

This promises to be a busy summer for her: alongside current Bolton School pupils Matthew Hotham and Harriet Gribbin from Year 13 and Zoe Stirzaker in Year 11, Natasha will travel to Strasbourg on the 6th of July to perform at the SaxOpen World Saxophone Congress quartet finals. This group of young musicians are the only British quartet to qualify for the finals: an impressive feat, considering that the competition was open to all musicians under the age of 35!

In August, Natasha will also tour Scotland with the Halle Youth Orchestra. This will be her last set of performances with the orchestra, which she joined in 2013.
