The Sixth Form girls started their Study Leave in style with their celebrations on Leavers’ Day. Year 13 pupils wore a marvellous array of costumes to represent the theme, which this year was ‘Childhood Memories’.
Characters from Winnie the Pooh could be seen in the corridors alongside the Teletubbies, Oompa Loompas, Smurfs and even some crayons! The Pink Ladies from Grease rubbed shoulders with characters from The Wizard of Oz, Super Mario Brothers and The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. There were a huge number of stars from children’s cartoons represented: Disney princesses, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, Toy Story toys, Scooby-Doo, and Shrek and Fiona and their friends. There was also a large contingent of superhero characters.
The Sixth Formers also decorated the school to match their theme. The entrance to the dining hall was transformed into a Gingerbread House, the corridors were turned into Wonderland and Teletubbieland, and there were homages to fairytales, superheroes, and even the musical Grease scattered throughout school.
The day began with the girls greeting one another in the Riley Quad as they arrived at School. There was even an impromptu flash mob as the girls sang and danced the Cha Cha Slide, the Macarena and the YMCA!
Later in the morning, the Sixth Form enjoyed ice creams on the netball courts, with the sun making an appearance for the occasion. They had fun playing games of rounders, made more challenging by the fancy dress, with lots of the Year 13 Form Tutors joining in as well.
Afterwards, the Year 13 pupils enjoyed a special Leavers’ Lunch in the Arts Centre before departing to begin their A Level Study Leave. The Leavers’ Day celebrations were an excellent send-off for the Sixth Formers before the hard work of A Level examinations begins.
In honour of the ‘Childhood Memories’ theme, the girls also brought in toys to donate to Bolton Toy Library.
