Living in Bolton
Bolton is one of the largest and fastest growing towns in the UK and is set for further development as the local council invests heavily in its infrastructure.
It offers all that you would expect from a modern town – a diverse range of restaurants, theatres (The Octagon is nationally renowned), cinemas, bars, leisure facilities, country parks and art galleries as well as a university and first class shopping, including the newly refurbished Market Place and the Middlebrook Retail and Leisure Park, which is one of the largest in the North West; all this is is set against a backdrop of beautiful grand buildings and historic houses. Housing stock is very competitively priced and there is easy access by train and bus into Manchester city centre. The town sits on the edge of the spectacular Pennine countryside and is within easy reach of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.
People make places and you will find a warm welcome in Bolton where its townsfolk are friendly, open, proud, distinctive and fun. Our own alumni include Mark Radcliffe, Dame Janet Smith, Sir Ian McKellen, Ralf Little, Monica Ali, Nigel Short and Carol Klein. Peter Kay, Paddy McGuinness, Fred Dibnah, Vernon Kay, Jason Kenny, Amir Khan and Sara Cox all hail from Bolton.
