14 students, who left Bolton School in the Summer, have raised £57,531 to help provide bursaries for future Bolton School pupils.
Over a two week period, the students called former Bolton School pupils who had indicated that they would be happy to talk to current students about fundraising activities.
Laura Firth, Development Manager at the School and organiser of the campaign, said: “The callers were a credit to the School, raising over £57,500 for the School Bursary Fund and enjoying conversations with a variety of Old Boys and Old Girls, who shared their diverse experiences of life since leaving the School. The experience of working as part of the call team, and the skills they have acquired, will be invaluable to our students as they continue on to their university studies and into the world of work. The monies raised will fund two Sixth Form Bursaries commencing in 2014-15, as well as providing additional monies to support the School’s Bursary Fund. Currently, one in five pupils has a Bursary place in the Senior School, and this support will prove invaluable as we move towards our goal of ensuring one in four pupils receives support for their education.”
