A Tribute to Anastasia
Monday, 13 December 2021
It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of Anastasia Costello, a Year 7 pupil in the Girls' Division of Bolton School. Anastasia passed away last week, having contracted COVID pneumonia over the last Half-Term holiday. She was cared for in Warrington General Infirmary and in Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
Head of Girls' Division, Mrs Kyle, said: 'We are deeply saddened by the news that Anastasia has died and our thoughts and prayers are with her family. Anastasia was a happy, popular member of the Girls' Division and her death is a profound loss to our community. Pupils knew her to be kind, spirited and lots of fun, and her participation in lots of different sports meant that even in her short time here, she had already begun to make an impact on the extra-curricular life of the school. She will be much missed.'
Her Form Teacher, Mrs Power, said: 'Anastasia truly was the life and soul of our Form, 7G. With her dazzling smile and wonderful sense of humour, she never failed to lift the spirits of all those around her. She was a talented sportswoman who enjoyed lacrosse, hockey and netball to name just three of the sports she took part in. She also loved singing and dancing, and hoped to pursue these interests as she got older. Her positive attitude and cheerful personality were an inspiration to others, and she was always there to support her classmates. She had many, many friends, who will treasure memories of her being kind, loving, thoughtful and happy.'
Head of Middle School, Ms Field said: 'During this difficult time, the girls and colleagues in school have been tremendously kind to one another; supporting each other and allowing space for reflection and sadness, as well as for remembering with fondness a great friend.
'As the term ends this week, we will guide pupils and their parents to appropriate points of support over the holidays.'
