Bolton School Celebrates Royal Wedding
Friday, 18 May 2018
Children at Bolton School celebrated the royal wedding in style one day early. Children in the Nursery and Nursery Class held a ‘Princes and Princesses’ day: some of the children came dressed up as royals, while others wore the colours of the UK and US flags. Beech House Infant School and Junior Girls’ School pupils also dressed in red, white and blue to mark Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.
The Junior Boys and Junior Girls enjoyed a picnic lunch outside, and all of the children in the Nursery had their tea in the sunshine as well after making bunting and flags in the morning. The Nursery Class had a fun lunchtime party to celebrate the wedding, and even threw confetti and waved their hand-made flags for ‘Prince Harry’ (Mrs Browning) and ‘Meghan’ (Mrs Patel)!
Last week, in the final of the Bake Off, showstopper cakes made by Year 7 pupil Alaina Jiva and Year 8 pupil Millie Price were inspired by the Royal Wedding. Alaina's Royal Wedding Cake used the elderflower and buttercream flavours of Harry and Meghan’s actual wedding cake and was placed in a spectacular diorama of the Mall, complete with jigsaw Buckingham Palace, while Millie’s Summer Fruits Fairytale Cake used the red, white and blue of the UK and US flags and encapsulated the couple’s ‘fairytale’ romance.
