Pupils at Bolton School Girls’ Division have supported a wide range of charities in the run-up to Christmas while enjoying the school’s festive traditions.

The Prefects’ Panto had the whole school in stitches as the Head Girl and her team caricatured members of staff. The show culminated in a fantastic parody of ‘Backstreet’s Back’, re-titled ‘Hincks Is Back’ and available to watch on Twitter or Facebook. Admission donations went to Women’s Aid.

Christmas Jumper Day brightened the halls of the Girls’ Division as pupils donned their best festive dress in exchange for a donation. The money raised was given to Parents for Future UK.

The annual Christmas Post saw Year 10 once again appeal to the school in a riotous assembly filled with pop culture references. The year group competed to see which form could raise the most money with cake and sweet sales at break and lunchtime in support of their chosen charity Wipe Your Tears.

Earlier in the term, the whole of Year 7 completed a sponsored silence and raised £4,448, which they used to buy a huge selection of toys, games and gifts for Hits Radio’s Mission Christmas Cash for Kids Appeal. The presents will be handed out to less fortunate children in the north west.

Sixth Form Girls recruited help from Senior and Junior School pupils in the Girls’ and Boys’ Divisions for the Urban Outreach Hamper Challenge. This is the seventh year running that Bolton School has helped to collect supplies for the charity’s festive hampers, which are filled with all of the food and drink required to make a Christmas dinner and given to needy families. Pupils achieved their target of 2,600 selection boxes.

Finally, a retiring collection at the Ceremony of Carols also raised money for charity.
