Junior Girls from Bolton School have been going the extra mile, recording a number of cross country successes. Taking part in the Bolton Schools’ Cross Country Championships held at Moss Bank Park on Thursday 19 April, both year groups enjoyed an extremely successful cross country outing.

In the Year 3/4 competition, outstanding running from all the girls saw everyone finishing in the top 24 out of a field of approximately 150. Particular congratulations to Abigail Carr and Georgia Clarkson who came 1st and 3rd respectively and also a special mention to Abigail who ran a superb race to win with quite a lead, a fantastic achievement as she is only in Year 3! The team finished in 1st place overall.

In the Year 5/6 competition, again the whole team performed brilliantly, with all 5 finishing in the top 25 out of a field of approximately 150. Well done to Charlotte Harris who came 3rd and a mention to Molly Grimshaw, who has improved greatly over the past few years to finish 4th in this final event. The team finished in 1st place overall.

Meanwhile, the Year 5/6 team also made it the “double”, as they became winners of the Bolton Schools’ Cross Country League. Head of School Mrs Laverick said: “Last year, the girls were runners-up to St Mary's Horwich, so it was great to reclaim the trophy this year! Well done to all the girls that have been a part of the cross country league at Moss Bank Park.”
