Mabelle Becomes North West Gymnastics Champion

Mabelle Dawson, a Year 7 pupil at Bolton School Girls’ Division, has won a gymnastics competition which means she has become the North West Champion for her age group.  As the winner of three gold and one silver medal over the four pieces of apparatus, Mabelle won overall. 

Mrs Felicity Dawson, Mabelle’s mum, said: “We are extremely proud of what Mabelle has managed to achieve so far in her gymnastics.  Next year will be a very busy year for her, when she will hopefully qualify for the British Championships.” 

Mabelle will now go on to compete in a National Competition in Guildford in two weeks to compete against around 45 elite gymnasts from Great Britain. 

Last year Mabelle was selected to attend GB Development squad training camps at the National Sports Centre in Lilleshall, where she has been training alongside the six best gymnasts in Great Britain at her age group.

Mabelle has practised gymnastics since she was three years old and trains five or six times a week with the City of Manchester Gymnastics club.
